One of my recent endeavors for the course of Learning in School and Other Settings (cep800) of the MAET was creating a digital storytelling project. Once again, the sheer thought of engaging with design and creativity brought me plenty of excitement.

Digital storytelling, according to this educational website, stands for the use of digital tools to tell a story. It’s that simple. As with other stories, this kind also focuses on a topic, follows a storyline, and is told through a particular lens.

My story emerged from the idea of documenting my adorable 6th graders as they learned and engaged with rhetorical devices and I, for the first time this year, developed a project-based experience for them. It demonstrates the process of creating a commercial with an EAL class. The lesson was anchored on Bloom’s revised taxonomy and focuses on learning outcomes.
