Heidi Hayes Jacobs, from Curriculum21, has been doing a stellar job of offering solid ideas for new forms of school and curriculum mapping.

Her latest book series on the new literacies sheds light on the merge of traditional and modern practices to empower learners now.

I am particularly fascinated by the idea that engagement and motivation are the core concepts of our present teaching practices and that, to foster them, we need to upgrade our instructional focus in the classroom to honor our students.

The main idea here is that it’s not about the tools; it’s about the learning. Here’s an infographic I produced based on Jacobs’ latest publication, Leading the New Literacies (Contemporary Perspectives on Literacy), for the MAET program that I am currently taking.
